The doctoral school covers multidisciplinary fields related to understanding the physical, chemical, and biological balance of the Earth’s environment. The doctoral school’s specializations are: Atmospheric Physical Chemistry; Hydrology; Climate, Atmospheric, and Ocean Sciences (terrestrial and planetary); Instrumentation, Remote Sensing, Observation, and Space Technologies for the Ocean, Atmosphere, and Climate; Continental Surfaces; Meteorology and Air Quality; Marine Sciences; Biogeochemical Cycles and Global Environmental Change; Modeling and Numerical Methods for the Study of the Climate System.

More than 230 doctoral students are working on their dissertations at the Île-de-France School of Environmental Sciences, which comprises 18 laboratories located in Paris Center, Paris South, and at the marine stations in Villefranche-sur-Mer, Banyuls, and Roscoff, as well as the Scientific Center of Monaco.
